Jaws & Claws Chocolate is an exquisite representation of Sabah's rich and unique terroir, where local cacao beans are transformed into a premium bean-to-bar experience. Handcrafted with care, Jaws & Claws uses locally sourced cacao beans, grown by smallholder farmers in the fertile regions of Sabah, Borneo. The beans are harvested, fermented, and dried with a focus on sustainability, ensuring that every step supports the local community and the environment. From the moment the beans are roasted to their final, smooth form, Jaws & Claws preserves the deep, natural notes of the cacao — rich, earthy, and slightly fruity — for a taste that tells the story of its origins.

Our dedicated chocolatiers work with the finest cacao beans sourced exclusively from Sabah's rich terroir, ensuring that each bar reflects the artistry and skill that goes into its creation.

The Beginning
The calm and peaceful sound of nature resonates and fills the bosom of north Borneo - Sabah and tucked in a distant corner of the Land Below the Wind, lies Jaws & Claws Chocolate, where its founders, Josephine and Kathy, keep the tradition of 2 ingredients chocolate making alive. They devote themselves to making incredible single estate chocolate bars made from cacao grown in Malaysia and mainly from Sabah. Every bar is handcrafted from scratch wit quality cacao beans directly sourced from Malaysian growers that they trust and respect. While the cacao beans used are directly sourced from their partners consisting local beans producers. Jaws & Claws Chocolare also has their own fermentory and works hand in hand with a group of cacao growers in Malaysia to produce their own fermented cacao beans.

Why Single Estate
This means our chocolate bars are handcrafted from cacao beans of one estate and it can be from a single plantation or a single grower. Each cacao beans source (estate) is not blended with other origin thus enabling us to curate a product that is consistant in taste and quality. Each cacao origin is unique in character in terms of taste and aroma. Sourcing directly from a specific grower, producer and plantation identifies the terrior the cacao is grown and how the beans are produced. With this information, we can manage better and expect the outcome of our chocolate bars.
